The course is designed to improve self-appreciation, personal development, communication, and coping skills to help better understand self and others. The focus centers on human interactions within the life cycle including dating, mate-selection, marriage, parenting and divorce. Other topics may include abuse, dying and death, communicable disease, mental health, human sexuality and lifestyles. Students are introduced to Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) which is the co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) associated with Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS).
Careers include: Teacher, Pediatrician, Child care provider, Dietician, Social worker, Psychologists, and Nurse.
