Ms. Lori Krug - FACS Department Chair

I have been teaching FACS in 2006 and started at Holt in 2012. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Apparel & Textiles with a double specialization in Retail Management and Fashion Design from Mizzou and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Prior to becoming a teacher I worked in retail management, operations, quality assurance and technical fashion design.

I earned my Family and Consumer Sciences certification from Southeast Missouri State University, now S & T. In 2009, I completed by Masters Degree in Education at Lindenwood University. I am currently working on a second Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.

I am a Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator through the National Restaurant Association and continue to grow my culinary skills attending their Prostart Summer Institutes for culinary arts educators. In 2012 I was named the Missouri Prostart Educator of the Year. I have coached culinary teams to the Missouri Prostart State Invitational Culinary and Management competitions including a first place win in Management earning a trip to the National Competition.

I am one of the three Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisors and as the Educators Rising advisor. I have earned Google Level 1 and 2 certifications. I serve on the MoEFACS Board, as Chair of the Professional Development Committee, which is the professional organization for FACS teachers in Missouri.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, boating, travelling, watching movies, sewing, baking and hanging out with my dog, Copeland, a Golden Retriever.

I am passionate about the FACS content area because we are teaching students skills they will use for life regardless of their profession.

I graduated from Holt and am so happy to be back teaching here. Through the A+ Program, I attended St. Charles Community College to earn my Associate Degree in Secondary Education. I completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education at Missouri State University. Once teaching at Holt I started working towards my Masters in Educational Technology from the University of Central Missouri and graduated in May 2020. I am currently working towards my Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

While attending MSU, I was a director at The Goddard School in Springfield, Missouri. Working in Early Childhood Education at Goddard for 4 years prepared me well for the Child Development courses I currently teach and to run Holt's Hut, our in-house preschool program.

I serve as one of the three Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) advisors, one of the Culinary Club advisors and a part of the Care Team. I have my Google Level 1 and 2 certifications. I am working through the National Restaurant Associations' Prostart Culinary Institute training program during the summer.

Some of my favorite things to do in my free time are being outdoors, working out, baking and crafting. I have one dog named Ace who is a catahoula and pitbull mix.

I have a true passion for teaching and love making a difference. I enjoy teaching Family and Consumer Sciences because no matter what profession students are going into they will use the information learned in our courses.

"My passion for FACS started my freshman year of high school and continued on to Northwest Missouri State where I majored in Family & Consumer Sciences Education. I recently finished my master’s from Logan University in Nutrition & Human Performance. This year, the 20-21 school year, is my ninth year teaching Family and Consumer Sciences and my second year at Holt.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my two dogs, Charlie and Scooter, exploring different parts of the Katy Trail and being with family."

I have been a Family and Consumer Science teacher in the Wentzville School District for twelve years. I received my first degree for Travel and Tourism and Fashion Merchandising from the University of Missouri - Columbia. I married, had two boys, and lived in Maine, Virginia, and Florida with my family for several years because my husband Mark served in the United States Navy. I then earned my Masters in Teaching (MAT) and my Masters in Theatre (MA) from Lindenwood University. I taught for three years for Lindenwood University in English and Communication and as a middle school Family and Consumer Science teacher for three years in Montgomery City, Missouri.

I have many interests from reading to performance arts (in which I have taught ballroom dance). My two sons, Stephen and Andrew, live out of state and I enjoy traveling to visit them. I have been the sponsor for FCCLA and Kids for Wish Kids. I am the Speech and Debate Coach and have held two Teen CERT programs for the community at Holt High School. I have served on the PD Committee as a co-chair for 10 years and have been part of our Renaissance Committee for 8 years. I love teaching and helping students with their growth and development.

Hello! I am so happy to be on the Wentzville School District Teaching Team in the Family And Consumer Science (FACS) department. I have taught in the Fort Zumwalt District, Hazelwood District and now I call the Wentzville School District my career home. I attended Lindenwood University as a student and competitive cheerleader. I coached high school cheer for several years after graduation and took a break from coaching as I began my family. I have been blessed to have been able to apply my skills and knowledge to many different types of classes such as Child Development, Career and Family Leadership, Senior FACS and Human Relations. Kids in the Middle and Positive Parenting Solutions are a few personal Professional Development areas I have enjoyed working with. I am partnered with EF Tours to take groups of students on trips nationally and internationally. I love being surrounded by a new or different culture and learning more about the world. I am dual certified in Family And Consumer Sciences and Social Studies.

I am married to my wonderful husband who is also a big part of the Wentzville community as a Firefighter/Paramedic. We have three children from preschool to elementary school age. I love reading about parenting, child development and positively living life. My favorite things to do are any outside activity, watching a good tv show or movie and traveling. I love a challenge and learning new things. I enjoy learning and applying fitness and nutrition aspects to my life as well as practicing yoga and meditation. I have always loved teaching and I am very grateful to be working in such an amazing profession!
